It's a rainy day in Seattle, and I am mostly happy that I don't have to venture out into the gloom for a run.  Today is a recovery day.  It took some time for me to think of recovery days as part of the training process.  My initial belief was that I didn't have to train that day.  But there is more to it than that.   So today instead of lounging, I will complete two sessions of foam rolling,  I'll practice hot yoga for an hour, then treat my sore muscles with a soak in baking soda and epsom salt.  Finally, I'll aim to get some extra sleep.  Sleep, I think, is the most important thing that an athlete can do for recovery - and it's free!

Permission to take more naps granted :)
