The weather in Seattle today is typical for February - forty degrees and rainy. And, honestly I didn't really feel like venturing outside for a workout. Instead I wanted to sit on the couch and eat nachos and watch the Patriots lose the Super Bowl (sorry - not sorry - Pats fans). So I told myself what I would tell a friend: eating nachos and relaxing isn't going to get you to the summit of K2 and back, and slacking off now just means more pain on the mountain. For me, an inner voice, that stops negative thoughts before then become overwhelming is important. While I am in this training phase, I am not only training my body to be stronger, but also this inner voice, so that I can rely on it when it really matters.
